This Family Language Unit is a great source for language development for ELL ESL, K-2 and Special Education students.
There are many ways to implement this unit into your lesson plans and classroom. Many modifications and differentiation can be done to make this work best in your classroom.
-vocab cards/ word wall cards
-write around the room activity
-Who lives in my house? activity template
-end of the unit assessment
How I use this unit in my classroom:
I keep the word wall cards on my pocket chart so students can use them if needed. Students use the cards for free write and write around the room during Daily 5. We practice the flashcards daily. I assess at the beginning of the unit and then again at the end.
The other worksheets are done throughout the weeks.
Typically I do one worksheet as guided practice and the other independently.
There are many ways to differentiate and modify these activities.
As always, do what is best for your class!
