Project directions, rubric and rough draft outline for creating a family album. I use this project with my beginning French students as their first piece of formal writing. It could be easily adapted for any language class. When using this project I always have students complete their rough draft and editing without phones or computers before they move on to creating their final photo album (this lowers the temptation to use online translators to write their paragraphs at the last minute!). I encourage students to be creative and have fun when creating their final albums. I allow students to decorate their albums using family photos, magazine pictures or their own illustrations. In my class students are also allowed to use their real family or create a fictional family. At the end of the project you can have students present in pairs, small groups or to the whole class. They love looking at each other's albums and presenting their work to one another.
