Family STEM bag toppers includes 5 toppers with simple home challenges that encourage critical thinking and curiosity. They make a fun monthly activity for your classroom or a great gift to send students home with for the summer.
-Building with Toothpicks and Gumdrops
-Observing with a Hand Lens
-Measuring with a Ruler
-Investigating with Bouncy Balls
-Exploring with Eye Droppers and Pennies
These are a simple idea for student gifts for the summer or holiday breaks. Another option is to send a bag home at the beginning of a month and have students return the supplies (not the gum drops and tooth picks, of course.) If you do not have enough supplies for everyone to have the same bag, you could make a few of each bag and have students alternate.
-Decide if you would like to print the color bag topper on white paper or the black and white version on brightly colored paper. (Printer paper or card stock both work fine.)
-Fill the bags with the supplies. For the toothpicks and gum drops, I used a sandwich bag. For the others, I used a snack bag. For the ruler, I did not use a bag but taped it on the inside of the topper.
-Fold the topper.
-Staple the topper on the bag.
-Send home and enjoy!
