PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this partner activity, students use a set of 23 clues to populate the a family tree with the names and ages of the family members. The clues only give partial information, (for example: Jack's grandson is 4), and the students use all of the clues to figure out where each person fits into the tree and their ages. After working separately for several minutes, the students find a partner with an additional set of clues and then complete the tree.

Once completed, the students answer 15 comprehension questions on the back of the worksheet.

It is a fun vocabulary exercise that models family connections with the use of avoir for ages. In addition, the family tree is a complicated one (with step brothers, mothers, divorces, and single parents) to better reflect the family structures that our students understand.

The students really get into the detective nature of the activity, and it is always a lot of fun. See preview for the directions and a redacted sample.

Best used for French 1, French 2, and French 3.
