This is a family vacation budgeting project that was created for a Consumer Math class, but it can be used for all math classes. This project allows students to work in groups while researching various travel sites on the internet. This project also teaches students about time zones, the current cost of gas and plane tickets, and the costs of dining out on vacation vs grocery shopping and cooking. It also touches on the costs of entertainment while on vacation. This project also allows for a discussion of ways to save money on trips!
This packet includes all the forms the students will need to complete the project and a student reflection page in which students can reflect on the project, rate their group members, and rate themselves. It also includes a teacher grading rubric for teachers to grade the project and give feedback to the students.
