This is an 20 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on Famous American Educators – Ann Sullivan – Educator pf Helen Keller. Each of the slides are editable so you can modify the slides to the presentation as needed.
Anne Sullivan was a teacher who taught Helen Keller, a blind and deaf child, how to communicate and read Braille. At only 20 years of age, Sullivan showed great maturity and ingenuity in teaching Keller and worked hard with her pupil, bringing both women much acclaim. Sullivan even helped Keller write her autobiography.
Her early days were filled with sadness, poverty, health problems, death and abandonment by her father. Sullivan learned about schools for the blind and became determined to get an education to escape poverty. She lacked social graces, which put her at odds with her peers. Humiliated by her own ignorance, she was tremendously bright and determined to excel.
The school’s director. Michael Anagnos, introduced her to the Helen Keller family. Sullivan performed brilliantly, bringing Keller out of her shell resulting in Keller becoming the first deaf-blind person to graduate from college. Their success was embraced by many and her fame spread and the two created a remarkable bond that lasted the rest of their lives.
