David "Davy" Crockett was a 19th century American folk hero, frontiersman, soldier, and politician. He is commonly referred to in popular culture by the epithet "King of the Wild Frontier".

Crockett was born on August 17, 1786, in Greene County, TN. In 1813, he participated in a massacre against the Creek at Tallushatchee. He was not present at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend when the Creeks were finally defeated.

He represented TN in the U.S. House of Representatives, twice before leaving politics to fight in the Texas Revolution where he died at the Battle of the Alamo, near San Antonio, TX.
