Challenge your students to do independent research and to think critically in reporting about a Famous Black American. This unit provides options for using the computer and the internet to create either a poster or a slideshow on one of 10 famous Black Americans. Included are student instructions for both posters and slideshows; grading rubric for both the posters and slideshows; a detailed analysis of the life of each of the 10 Black Americans (which teachers may use for checking their students’ facts - i.e. an answer key); and an introduction to the unit The unit is suitable for 6th through 8th graders with the teacher adjusting the amount of information expected, depending on the grade level. Jackie Robinson - athlete and first Black on an integrated baseball team
Harriet Tubman - escaped slave and conductor on the Underground Railroad
