This activity allows students in groups of two or more to do quick research on one of the following Economists/Philosophers:
John Maynard Keynes
Baron de Montesquieu
Feel free to add more Economists/Philosophers if needed for your classroom.
Student groups will research one Economist/Philosopher and present their notes and key ideas back to their classmates. Students can present their findings using a simple PowerPoint, Prezi, or poster board. Students will use a simple note sheet as a guide for their presentation. The following information will be covered by the presentation:
Name of the Economists/Philosopher
Economist’s Ideal Form of Government
Economist’s Ideal Form of Economic System
Impact of the economist on the world today
Major accomplishments or noteworthy events of the economist
The research can be as short as twenty minutes or up to one class period. Limit the size of PowerPoints and Prezis to about five to eight slides. Have students present their information to their classmates. Students take notes during each presentation. This lesson can be as short as one class period or as long as four class periods, depending on much depth you expect. This simple lesson plan is great for any economics unit or class.
A teacher guide, rubric, and student note/worksheet are included.
