Description
Our “Famous Failures Card Sort for use with Easel by TpT” is a great way for students to see that even the most successful people in the world failed at some point in their journey. Today’s youth are growing up in a world that is extremely high stakes. Often times failure is not looked upon as something to learn and grow from. Instead, failure is seen as a negative and a penalty. Student’s are rarely given an opportunity to fail forward and develop the grit that is needed to survive in a complex world.
Teachers have been doing card sorts with their students for years. In today’s digital world, many see card sorts as something old-fashioned and a time that goes back to cutting and laminating paper. It is possible to bring card sorts into the digital world and engage students on a topic. Using Easel by TpT, students manipulate the digital “cards” with the failures on them and move them to the correct person.
There are two options for teachers to assign to students. The first option includes a slide with five famous people and five cards surrounding the slide. Each card matches one of the people on the slide. A challenge me option is also available. These slides have the same five famous people, but there are now fifteen (15) digital “cards” surrounding the slide. Students have to determine which five cards match the five famous people. An answer key is included in the Teacher PDF.
Students may need to click the minus (-) button to zoom out to see all of the cards. The digital “cards” are below each slide.
