After teaching the basics of a sentence (subject and predicate), and the main types of sentences (telling, asking, exclaiming, commanding), I decided I needed a way for my students to learn the "fancy" vocabulary words for the types of sentences. So I came up with this little flip book. I will prepare these booklets, but depending on the cutting skills of your students, you could have them cut on the horizontal lines on the cover page. On the lines on the second page, which should be stapled to the back to match up with the front page, students will write what the "fancy" word is fancy for. Example: "Declarative is a fancy word for..." "a telling sentence." And under "Example", students will write their own example of a declarative sentence.
