Learn all about Fannie Lou Hamer, an African American Civil Rights activist, and have fun at the same time!

In this activity, students will learn about Fannie Lou Hamer, an African American activist who:

  • fought for Civil Rights,
  • helped African-Americans register to vote,
  • developed a farming cooperative for economic empowerment,
  • co-founded the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party.

This hero was an orator, educator, national leader, and farmer in rural Mississippi.

The students’ task is to identify this Civil Rights activist, solve the clues and be the first to complete the escape room puzzle!

This escape room is appropriate for students between grades 4-12.

It requires about 30-45 minutes of prep, and can be completed in about one hour.
