Each lesson includes a short script, reading prompt and common-core standards. The lessons guide students into a deep understanding of folktales, fairy tales, fables, myths, modern fantasy and fantasy as a whole.
20 Sample Anchor Charts
Each lesson is accompanied by a sample anchor chart. Use this to provide students with more information, and to apply knowledge learned in the mini lesson to your most current fantasy read alouds. (The anchor charts are not full size, I use these to give me ideas for making my own anchor charts on chart paper).
Independent Reading Focus
This is a short prompt that asks students to apply what they have learned during the mini lesson to their own independent reading. Students record their response on their reading bookmark (included) and then share with the class after independent reading time. A powerpoint is included (in both .ppt and .ppx formats) which you can use to display the daily focus onto a smart board or other projector.
The guided practice sheets include some information from the lesson and space for students to apply the information to their own reading. Perfect for independent reading, guided reading and interactive notebooks. See a full list of extensions in the product preview. Includes:
