Description

This is a listing for a 3-5 day lesson on the FANTASY GENRE. There are videos to introduce the idea, an anchor chart for students to take notes on and a TDA to complete on the story Moongirl. (A link to the video version of the book is attached in the slide deck). The TDA is created as a fill in the blank to use as a scaffolded option. Teachers can delete or keep this within the document. Students are asked to create this TDA online by sharing within Google Classroom or LMS, but this can also be printed and completed on paper.

This presentation can be used to

- Introduce the topic or review learning from previous years by presenting to the whole class or small group.

- Have students take notes.

- Share as a copy for each student to use virtually or as a way for them to complete.

Students will learn about basic elements of the fantasy genre and how to identify them in future passages/stories as well.

There is a separate posting for a TDQ style lesson on a fantasy book, Lucia & the Light by Phyllis Root.

We used this before reading our novel study. It was easy to use for both students and teacher.
