Students always enjoy creative writing. I have created a creative writing fantasy unit. Each mini lesson includes a daily learning target, text to read, as well as whole group and independent practice. Many lessons also include partner practice. The beginning of the KeyNote lists all books used in the unit.
**I have created a compressed file which includes three different ways to access this document (Keynote Presentation, PDF, and PowerPoint).**
Suggestions for teaching unit:
Section One: Mini Lesson Notes
- Students can record notes from the mini-lesson. Many of these notes will be based upon the mentor text that is being read.
Section Two: Fantasy Brainstorming
As part of the beginning mini lesson students are required to brainstorm and plan ideas for their stories.
Section Three: Fantasy Story Writing
-Students will be writing their fantasy stories here. Students will need to refer back to their brainstorming in order to complete this.
