Product Description
Fantasy is a favorite unit for our readers and writers for good reason- there is an incredible selection of fantasy series available to youngsters these days. However, our struggling readers have difficulty accessing this genre, as it often contains multiple plotlines, lots of figurative language and difficult to decode text. Although this genre does not come naturally to my students, I wanted them to have an authentic experience alongside their classmates. This unit is the culmination of many years of work with my fifth grade students and was designed to help support students in classrooms where the TC fantasy unit of study is being taught. Includes writing prompts, a graphic organizer and reading response questions for The Dragonling and A Dragon in the Family by Jackie French Koller.
