I have gathered some of the journal prompts I used with my students during our Facing Injustice unit when we read Farewell to Manzanar. Students always had the option to answer the journal prompt or write a diary entry from the point of view of Jeanne. I found that giving the students this choice made them less resistant to the warm-ups and gave us a lot to talk about in class. Students were able to either read their answer and explain it or read their diary entry out loud to the class. I hope you find this helpful!
