Developmentally appropriate Farm number sense math centers for the preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classroom! This resource is perfect for all developmental and cognitive levels of early childhood. The centers are fun, engaging, and offer challenges and reinforcement of basic skills.
This resource is set up with 3 levels of developmentally appropriate farm themed Number Sense centers for the early childhood classroom. Every class is different, every student is different, so this resource gives you the option of starting out slowly, building on what your students know, and offering a challenge as skills are mastered.
Level 1: Haystack Dice Number Puzzles
This beginning level will introduce matching snowflakes on dice to numbers. Students will learn each number means a quantity as they also learn to slowly recognize arrays of objects.. Count the snowflakes and find the number that ’says’ the same thing to complete each puzzle! This is a great activity for counting, subitizing, and reinforcing that all numbers mean a quantity!
Level 2: Farm Silo Tallies, Haystack Dice & Numbers 3-part Puzzles
This center activity builds on the first activity by introducing another way to show a quantity or ‘say’ a number. With this activity you will be introducing counting a quantity of objects as well as snowflakes on dice.. Students will have 3 different ways to learn in this center as they put together self-correcting puzzles, each piece ‘saying’ the same number!. Fabulous counting and subitizing activity!
Level 3: Fill the Barn! Find 6!
This activity builds on the first two, but adds the element of placing ALL of the number sense cards on the mats. Each mat has a big, bold numeral at the top with a 6-part grid visible. You can choose to attempt all of the numbers, or bring out one or two for the kids to challenge themselves at a slower pace. Choose which way is developmentally appropriate for your class.
