This activity includes 15 questions related to a unit on fashion/shopping. Each question has multiple parts to it so that students have lots of conversation ideas. I cut out each question so I can put one strip of paper on each desk in a U shape. I number students off 1-15 depending on how big my class is so that each question will have two students assigned to it. Students stand facing each other from different sides of the desk. They read the questions out loud and discuss. They cannot speak in English and they must keep talking the whole time they are at each question. After 1-2 minutes, I ring a bell and every student rotates right or left to a new partner and question.
The questions can be tricky and require partners to work together. If they don't understand one part of the question I tell them to just move on. While students are speaking, I circulate around the room and assign each student a score out of 5 points for participation.
I have students warm up at the beginning of class with a speaking entry task that gets them to use the vocab. If you don't want the activity to take up the whole class period, don't have students rotate as many times. Attached is also an exit slip I had students write down and turn in before the end of class. It requires them to reflect on their work and provides me with helpful feedback for the next time we do a similar activity.
