I love this project! It's a great end of the year, high interest, creative technology project!
My 7th graders study Asia. At the end of the year, they choose from a selection of religiously diverse locations (India, Japan, Dubai, Israel, etc.) and create new products for existing fast food restaurants that combine the culture of the American restaurant with the culture of the new location. They create pictures to use for their slides in their presentation and write a script for the presentation.
They present their work in VoiceThread, which if you haven't used it, is a bit like an online Power Point with recorded audio.
We use the Glencoe's text Exploring Our World. There is a page in there in the South Asian history section that I use to begin the project on fast food in Asian countries.
I love this project as a year end project because it ties together what we have learned about culture in all the sections of Asia.
I have left this booklet in Word format so that you can edit to better fit your needs. (If you need it in a different format, please just let me know). If you update the pages, make certain to update the table of contents as well. I copy the entire booklet at the beginning of the project for the students.
