Product Description
This is a collection of 4 resources about the topic of food that will help save you time with preparing to teach intermediate/upper intermediate ESL students:

No. 1: A Restaurant conversation worksheet in Microsoft Word. It is editable.
It includes a sample dialogue for students and the teacher to work through (and get the students speaking). The conversation has 3 speakers: the waiter/waitress and 2 customers).
After reading/speaking the dialogue, students have to fill out an order check as if they were the waiter/waitress taking the order to give to the kitchen/bar.
The next exercise is re-order phrases so that it makes a sensible short restaurant dialogue.
The third exercise is to get the students to explain local traditional food to a tourist (you can adjust the food to your country). Sample phrases are given to help the students, such as:
• It tastes ____________.
• It's made of ____________. (and so on).
The last exercise is getting the students to make their own restaurant dialogues in groups of 2 or 3.
This worksheet has been used in the classroom to high-school ESL students (grades 10 to 12).

No. 2: A food idioms crossword. It contains vocabulary such as the following:
• Hot potato
• Spill the beans
• As cool as a cucumber
• The big cheese, and many more
I use this crossword with grade 12 ESL and adult learners

No. 3: A food vocabulary crossword. It covers difficult vocabulary such as:
• barrel
• rich
• variety
• tender
• carton
• raw

No. 4: A short animated PowerPoint to practice student speaking of simple phrases in a restaurant. It covers asking for a menu, ordering, and asking for the bill. I used this with grade 6 ESL learners.

I hope these resources are of use to you.
