Use this game to review curricular vocabulary across content areas with your students. This game is perfect for end-of-year review before state assessments! This activity works well for students with vocabulary goals, as well as students with articulation and fluency carryover goals. This game is recommended for grades 7-9.
This game is played similarly to Spoons. Students try to collect 4 cards that are related concepts and be the first to scoop up an object to earn a point for that round! Students are instructed to look for associations between concepts, and to collect 4 cards that go together. Once they collect 4 related cards, they reach for one of the objects in the middle. If another player sees someone grab an object, they reach for one too. The student who is the first to grab the objects in the middle, lays down his/her cards and explains the concepts and how they are related. All of the students who grab objects earn a letter for that round and can place a marker on the score sheet for that round. Play continues until a student earns the letters “FAST HANDS” over rounds!
