Resource Prep:
Each activiy below includes the prep needed to do activity with students in the description. It may include just copying worksheet or cutting things out for art project. Each direction to games are located on one of the game sheets for student use.

Father’s Day Literature List: Choose books to read to your students about Fathers


Father’s Day Writing Station Words: Print and laminate a few colored copies of the Writing Station words for students to use or copy one sheet for each student to put in their writing folder or journal.


Classroom Books:

“Our Dads” Classroom Book: Copy cover on cardstock and then copy the student sheet for each student and have them write and draw why their dad, stepdad or grandpa are special. Collect each student paper and make classroom book binding or stapling book together.


Student Booklet:

“My Dad Book”: Copy and assemble each of the “ My Dad Books” booklets for each students . There are two booklet pages to each sheet with one cover and 8 other pages.. You can copy as many pages as you would like students to do. Students fill in the blank of each dad statement and then draw a picture of what they wrote. These could be used for part of the student Father’s Day gift.


Student Worksheets:

Literature Graphic Organizers : Use any of these organizers with the any of the stories on the literature list.

Beginning, Middle & End Retelling Graphic Organizers (2 types): After reading the story a few times, have students fill out the story retelling organizer, beginning, middle, and ending of the story. Three different types of organizers

Sequential Retelling Graphic Organizer (2 types): After reading the story a few times, have students fill out the story in sequential order.

5 W’s & How Graphic Organizer (2 types): After reading the story a few times, have students fill out the who, what, where, when, why and how of the story.


Student Writing Piece:

“All About My Father”: Student write about their father. Stepfather, or grandfather. There are two pages one with title and then extra writing sheet to each sheet You can copy as many pages as you would like students to do. I have included title pages for grandfather and stepdad for those student who may not live with their father.


Art Projects:

Father’s Day Project: Copy and assemble the Dad’s Toolbox with the directions and template page in unit. Send project home with students to present to their Fathers.



Kids have some while learning while making things for their dads!
