Even though it’s near the end of the year, don’t forget those fathers or special father figures out there. Always a good way to end the school year and acknowledge those role models is to design a new poem with your students. "Father's Day Keepers Poem," by Melissa J. Donovan, takes the character poem concept a step further and makes it into a rhyming poem.
The Keeper lesson, from “Holiday Poetry KEEPERS,” includes an original poem design example, line-by-line and easy-to-follow directions, simple rules, a template, a guided practice form with character trait examples to use, and a final poem-building form for individual student use.
I hope every receiver of your newly generated Father’s Day poems exclaims, “This is a keeper!”
Have a wonderful day yourself too!
