Henri Matisse was a famous French artist who changed the course of Modern art. In the early 20th century he was classified as a Fauvist, which meant he painted with wild avant-garde colors. After high school art students learn about the importance of Matisse and the Fauvist art movement, they can create their own original paintings utilizing bright colors.
This download includes 2 PDF files and a PowerPoint. The 27 slide PowerPoint lecture is about Henri Matisse’s work as a Fauve in France. The second PDF includes the lesson plan to teach students how to make their own Fauvist style self-portraits and rubrics to print and copy.
