Children love Halloween and all that candy! This activity can be done before or after Halloween and requires no actual candy. All children have to do is identify what their favourite Halloween treat is.
First, children decide upon their favourite treats. 'Chips' is on the sheet already. After filling in 7 more candy choices as well as the question they will ask, children walk around the room and discover what their classmates' favourite Halloween candy is. They record on the first page tally chart. You can decide the time limit or how many children they are expected to ask.
Once completed, they then transfer that information to make a bar graph using one-to-one correspondence.
The final page allows them to share 5 pieces of information they learned from their graph and evaluate their own personal work on a chart.
This could also make a great supply teacher activity if you need a fun and straightforward graphing task while away.
