This is a great way to familiarize your students with an argumentative performance task. I used a high interest topic (FEAR) and asked students to first educate themselves on the topic. Next they had to make a claim that takes a stance on the following issue: Is FEAR more harmful or beneficial to our health? Finally, they chose a powerful hook and wrote out a multi-paragraph argumentative essay using an easy to follow template. Even my struggling writers were able to follow this format and write a successful argument. Everything you need to walk your students through this process is included in this product.
