How and why we teach decomposing numbers. Learning to compose and decompose numbers makes an incredible impact on math skills. I offer you two differentiated Math activities you can use with your kids.

Number Mats Differentiated

* BASIC: Show Me the Number: Students will count the set, use mini erasers or counters to represent the number. They will use dry markers or playdough to trace or form the number.

*ADVANCE: Decompose the Number: Students will use mini erasers or counters to create two different groups that together represent the number.
