Glyphs tell about the person who made them! Glyph is short for hieroglyphics. It's art with information! Think of it as taking your art to a new level! Print the attached pages. Make enough copies of pages 2 and 3 so that each student will have the supplies they need. Copy page 2 (the large heart) on yellow and red construction paper and page 3 (the small hearts) on blue, pink and orange construction paper. Students begin by cutting out the large heart according to the Legend. (Note: you will have to help the students who have both a dog and a cat by cutting both a red heart and yellow heart in half and taping the two halves together.) Students continue to follow the Legend by adding a border of 1 inch squares you have cut from purple and orange construction paper and cutting the smaller heart for the center. When the glyph is complete it will tell about the student who made it! Anyone who reads the glyph will know if the student has pets or not and what kind, what food is their favorite and how old they are. Your students will LOVE it!
