Teresa Kwant and FirstGradeFunTimes have teamed up to bring you a FIRST GRADE VERSION of her popular Grab and Go Centers for Grades 3-6

Included are Language Arts centers for the entire month of February. There are 64 centers total with instructions on how to implement them into your classroom. This month we have added color and BW choices for many of the activities.Each center comes with a task card and a corresponding activity (with the exception of the "teacher directed center". I leave that task card blank, because as the classroom teacher, you will know what to teach your small groups best). Within the month, activities will build upon each other so that games, laminated cards, etc. will be used more than once - for different activities - to save on copies and lamination.

Center themes/skills include:

WEEK 1 - Word Work: • Students will be working on the cl, cr, fl, and fr blends.
Fluency: • Students will create, read and write silly sentences. They will also read sight word sentences, play a board game, and do tic-tac-toe reading.
Reading Response: • Students will work on inflectional ending –ed and –ing. They will also work on author’s purpose and reading comprehension
Writing: • Students will practice writing with inflectional endings –ed ad –ing. They will also write with February words, do squiggle writing and practice sight word sentences.
Meet with the Teacher: This center is a lesson planned by you, specific to your student groups.

WEEK 2: Word Work: Students will work on the br, cr, gr and pr blends.
Fluency: Students will work on sight words doing sight word triangles, dabbing sight words, playing a board game, and drawing a picture and sight word to create their own sentences.
Reading Response: Students will make story cubes to answer questions about what they read, will work on retelling, and reviewing books they read.
Writing: Students will make February page toppers, write about their favorite candy and practice with sight word sentences.
Meet with the Teacher: This center is a lesson planned by you, specific to your student groups.

WEEK 3: Word Work: Students will work on the dr and tr blends.
Fluency:Students will build silly sentences, and practice sight words.
Reading Response: Students will be working on nonfiction reading responses, main ideas and doing a word search reading maze.
Writing: Students will work on building sentences, mixed up words, writing about “Would you rather,” and practicing sight word sentences.
Meet with the Teacher: This center is a lesson planned by you, specific to your student groups.

WEEK 4: Word Work: Students will be reviewing the blends from the previous month.
Fluency:Students will practice sight words with daubers, sight word triangles, making colorful sight words, and picking a picture card and sight word to make sentences.
Reading Response: Students will be practicing homophones, syllables, and hunting for vowels and –ed and –ing words.
Writing: Students will practice writing homophones, doing paper toppers, and writing sight word sentences.
Meet with the Teacher: This center is a lesson planned by you, specific to your student groups.
