Play-dough Mats with a Hearts, Valentine's Day or February Theme!

I use these as independent centers during Literacy and Math Stations (of course I model HOW TO USE before implementing as an independent station)

These activities are based on Common Core State Standards that are hands-on, kinesthetic and sensory fun with Play-dough!

The Play-dough Mats will keep your students engaged in learning, and of course, your students will love!

Printing Directions:
-Print out all colored mats on white cardstock paper, laminate and cut for best results!
-One set of the mats, the Color Word Mats are in black and white ONLY. For the Black and White Color Word Mats, print on the corresponding color of construction paper, colored cardstock or colored paper and laminate.
-You can choose to cut them in half on the dotted line or leave them as full sheets!

(Another option is that you can print all of the pages in black and white ink on color paper, color cardstock or construction paper and laminate to create the mats and SAVE COLOR INK!)

Sight Words Mats:
-Students can use play-dough stamps, cookie cutters or hands to roll the play-dough into “snakes” to create each letter of the sight word.
-Sight Words included are: am, are, as, at, for, go, had, have, he, here, his, in, it, is, like, little, look, no, on, said, see, she, that, the, they, this, to, was, we, will, with, you
-Color Words: black, blue, gray, grey, green, orange, pink, purple, red, white, yellow
-Number Words: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
-Shape Words: circle, hexagon, rectangle, square, triangle

-(K.RF.1b) I know that words are made up of letters.
-(K.RF.3c) I can read sight words.

Ten Frame Mats (1-10):
-To create the amount in the ten frames, students can roll mini-balls, create little hearts or any other creative idea you can think of to make creating the amount fun with play-dough!

There are two differentiated mats for the ten frames:
-One that is more challenging with no support, the student creates the amount on the blank ten frames.
-The second set of ten frame mats are for students who need more support and have the amount already on the ten frame for the corresponding number. Students have to match the amount with their play-dough on the ten frame.

-(K.CC.4a ) I can count objects and say the numbers in order.-(K.CC.5 ) I can count objects to tell how many.
-(K.CC.5 ) I can count out a given number of objects.

Two Dimensional Shape Mats (circle, hexagon, rectangle, square, triangle):
-Students can use play-dough stamps, cookie cutters or hands to roll the play-dough into “snakes” to create each two dimensional shape.

-(K.G.2) I can name shapes.
-(K.G.5) I can build and draw shapes.
