This text structures set includes 24 task cards with informational paragraphs related to Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, and other special days in February, a bonus set of 24 mini-cards using paragraph titles only, and a fun small group dice game. The informational text structures included are cause and effect, compare and contrast, sequence, problem and solution, and description. Paragraph topics include Groundhog Day, Leap Year, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, candy, diamonds, roses, valentines, weddings, and more. When using the mini-cards, students must infer the text structure using only the title (quite challenging). Great for the month of February!
Task cards can be given to individual students or early finishers, used in centers or cooperative groups, become part of a small group game, or be used in a whole class game such as Scoot. I have included a page with a variety of different task card ideas.
Here is what you get when you buy this resource:
• 24 different text structures task cards (6 pages of 4 cards each)
• 24 mini-cards with paragraph titles (3 pages of 8 cards each)
• Student recording sheet (1 page)
• Answer key (1 page)
• Roll to Win small group dice game, 4 versions (4 pages)
• Roll to Win Valentine's Day game board(1 page)
• Task card uses (1 page)
• TOU & Credits (1 page)
Please NOTE that "signal words" do not appear in every paragraph, as I think students need to be able to identify text structures without them. They appear in at least half of the paragraphs.
I’d appreciate your purchase, your rating, and your feedback.
