February Writing Journal K-2
Teaching children how to write effectively is a mammoth task but one of the most important skills that we as teachers work so diligently to accomplish.
This monthly journal includes 14 writing prompt pages. Many of the prompts are original but some I have collected from fellow teachers over my 43 years of teaching or found online at various teaching and writing websites.
*Copyright for the writing prompts is given to an assortment of teacher resources.
Each page has been formatted to include the dotted writing prompt which is to be traced by the student and the manuscript lines for completing the writing task. I have also added an illustration box for students to “draw their story” first if they wish, as this may help them to organize their thoughts before they begin writing.
These writing prompts would work well in the literacy center and assigned as individual pages. Still, as another option, they could be completed as a rough draft, edited, recopied, and collated into booklet form and sent home as published writing. What an accomplishment for these little ones and an opportunity to “show off” their writing skills to their family.
Please take time to rate my work.
