Valentine's Day- February - Writing Prompts
Bring some holiday and seasonal excitement into your writing activities and set up a fun February writing center. These prompt cards and writing pages are great for students to use during writer's workshop, literacy centers, or Daily 5. If you prefer, these can be used whole-class as an assigned journal writing prompt rather than a station.
This item is best suited for first grade, second grade and third grade students. First graders will be able to respond to prompts when the prompts are read aloud. Primary writing lines and picture story papers are included for young ones!
This item includes 28 high-interest prompts with cute clipart in seasonal themes for a variety of writing genre.
Topics include these themes:
Black History Month
Kindness, Empathy and Love
Chocolate and Candy Hearts
The prompts encourage students to write in these genre: poetry, narrative, procedural, expository, opinion and persuasive selections, all in a very kid-friendly way.
A variety of cute writing papers in different line styles and a poster to display at your writing center are also included! Not all pages are shown in the thumbnails.
To use, just print and laminate the card set, cut apart and set them out at your center in a cute Valentine basket. The students reach in, pull out a card and begin the creative process!
Enough prompt cards are provided to last for the entire month, but it's fine to jump in to get set up at any time during the month too!
Thanks for taking a look at these writing station printables! I am working on a set for each month of the school year so stay tuned and follow me for notification when they are ready if you like. October, November, December and January kits are available at my store now!
