I used this activity pack to celebrate Valentine's Day in my classroom, but it could be used throughout the month of February.
3 Math activities
2 word activities
1 note to parents about the valentine box contest
6 award certificates for box contest winners
Math skills practiced in the above activities--basic addition and subtraction, tally marks, base-10, bar graphing, measurement with non-standard units
Word activities--creating sentences, nouns, adjectives
I hold a box decorating contest each year instead of creating valentine holders at school. This is a great activity for parents to do with their child. The students vote the day before the party or the morning of the class party, and I award 4-5 certificates to students for creativity, having the most hearts on their box, having the favorite boy or girl box, etc. The kids and parents love the activity, and almost every student participates every year.
