Federal v. State Power: Classify Powers Game

This matching game helps students gain a basic understanding of the powers held by the Federal and State Governments. Answer Key Included.

• Copy and cut a set for each pair or group (page 2 of this document)
• Make it a RACE to see which team can put the events in the correct order. Students could use or not use their notes, it’s up to you! 
• After they have done this a few times, students could write a headline or sentence illustrating the power, create their own graphic organizer, discuss why it makes sense that certain powers were given to the state and certain powers to the nation, rank the powers in order of IMPACT on their own life, etc…
