This is simple but motivating activity for practicing speech sounds! It's perfectly themed for spring but also fun and useful for any time of year!
Your students will LOVE to feed the caterpillar fruits and leaves with pictures of their target sounds. This cards can also be used to practice labeling pictures or describing (as with the EET- Expanding Expression Tools)
Along with this 25 page download you will need a paper bag or empty tissue box to create your caterpillar. Detailed directions for prep and use are included.
The following are included in the download:
- 20 articulation cards for EACH sound (/p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /f/, /v/, /l/, /l/ blends, sh, ch, j, th, /s/, /z/, /s/ blends, /r/, vocalic r and /r/ blends)
- 400 colorful picture cards in all!
- 20 open ended cards for you to write your own targets (or sight words, etc)
- A cute caterpillar head (drawn by me) to help you create the caterpillar your students will feed (don't forget the munching sounds!)
When students articulate pictures words to your liking (1X, 3X, 5X, in a phrase, in a sentence, etc.) they get to feed the caterpillar! Somehow they never tire of it!
*perfect to pair with your insect, butterfly, caterpillar books or bug themed units
