In this activity students each get a syllable game board. First player picks a fish claps the syllables and places the fish on the penguin with the correct number to represent the correct number of syllables. Players continue to play until they have fed all of their hungry penguins. A fun way for students to practice separating words into parts. Being able to identify the number of syllables in a word is a very important early reading skill. This game can be used in a Literacy workstation or reading center. It can also be used in a small guided reading group or cooperative learning group. A perfect addition to your Winter Thematic Unit. Brought to you by Mrs. Horvath's Kinder.
