What educators are saying

My students really enjoyed this articulation activity and it made getting repetitions a lot easier for me and I got better data! Love it
My students loved feeding the shark! We played this at the beginning of the year and they continue to ask to play it. Well worth the purchase! There are tons of cards to use.

Description

This is a simple but motivating activity for practicing speech sounds and working on phonological processes. It's themed for summer and your ocean units, but also fun & useful for any time of year, including Back to School! Your students will LOVE to feed the sharks little fish with pictures of their speech targets. These cards can also be used to practice labeling pictures or describing (as with the EET - Expanding Expression Tools). 468 colorful picture cards in all!

About this resource

This 20-page resource includes:

12 articulation cards for EACH of the following sounds (all positions) /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /f/, /v/, /l/, /l/ blends, sh, ch, j, th, /s/, /z/, /s/ blends, /r/, vocalic r, /r/ blends, vocalic r variations, -ng, /m/, /n/, /h/, /w/, "y"

12 little fish cards with images to address 9 of the most common phonological processes: final consonant deletion, backing, fronting, stopping, blend/cluster reduction, weak syllable deletion, gliding, deaffrication, initial consonant deletion

36 open-ended cards for you to write your own targets (or sight words, etc.)

3 shark heads in various sizes (and dispositions!) to help you create the shark your students will feed (don't forget the chomping sounds)!

When students articulate pictured words to your liking (1X, 3X, 5X, in a phrase, in a sentence, etc.) they get to feed the shark! Somehow they never tire of it!

✂️ Suggested prep

You will need a paper bag or box (such as an empty tissue box) to create your hungry shark. I use Lakeshore Learning’s “mystery box” which I love for so many purposes! Just print, cut, and use! No wasted paper! Laminating is recommended for durability. Detailed directions for prep are included!

I hope your little ones enjoy this as much as mine have - and that you get tons of use from it for years to come!
