It's hard to teach when we have little students with big emotions. I've used these emotion equations to help students pinpoint the feeling they are experiencing. Not only does it help then to react appropriately with an item from our calming bin, a short break, a longer conversation, it helps students build vocabulary in the process.
I place these in my calming bin that I talk about here
to help students pick items from the bin that would be most helpful for them.
Included is 1 poster that includes all the emotion equations included in the pack plus each emotion equation on a separate card that could be cut apart and put on a metal ring for students to flip through. 8 emotion equations are included that cover uncomfortable feelings. The uncomfortable feelings include: frustrated, irritated, embarrassed, ashamed, surprised, disappointed, anxious, hurt.
