Once students have a vocabulary of emotion words, I want to help them check-in and identify how they're feeling when they come to my room.
I Have Feelings: These mini-books come in boy or girl versions and have two options for use. You can either take photos of your students with different expressions and insert them in the book or use the option with clip art for coloring. Students learn common emotional state words and can also write in when they feel that way.
How I Feel: The emotional scale chart is something you can use at the beginning of the session or day to help students identify their own feelings. Fill in the date and then they simply color in the line drawing that best matches how they feel. Consider having them circle how they're feeling at the end of the session.
