Description
Emotions can run high starting kindergarten, when both children and parents can experience very real anxiety in adjusting to separating and beginning a new routine.
I read The Kissing Hand to my students on the first day of school, and teach them to find comfort in the warmth of their own hands from the kisses that were left on them, just like Chester. The Kissing Hand has been a gift to kindergarten (and early primary) teachers and parents for decades for the comfort it brings young students experiencing separation anxiety!
This free download includes:
- a coloring page with an explanation of the story and how the 'magic' works to send home for parents / guardians / caregivers
- a second coloring page of Chester
- two versions of a short black and white book about what hands are for (I plan to create a more full version in the future, with groups of kids, color version, and full Sight-Word-Stages options, so keep your eye out!)
