Incorporate this authentic regional celebration from Spain in your Spanish classroom with our Theme Pack and Printable Minibook-a great way to bring culture and language together! La Castañada is celebrated primarily in Cataluña and Barcelona, marking the harvest of chestnuts and other nuts/ fruits from the forest, along with the fall season. Celebrated on November 1, All Saint's Day, traditionally chestnuts are roasted and eaten, fall inspired crafts are done in elementary schools, the image of la castañera, a peasant woman selling chestnuts on the street, is prevalent. We've created this simple storyline to introduce basic information about the holiday and allow you to tie in autumn vocabulary. The Theme Pack includes props to extend the story along with an activity page for extra fun!
