Using abstract images and words, students can demonstrate their understanding and analysis of major characters with an easy to accomplish art project!
With the attached template (this size or larger via copier), students create a fence post encompassing elements of each major character in August Wilson’s play, “Fences”. Students should use words and abstract images (magazine cut outs or original art) to completely fill each fence post. Students should label each fence post accordingly (Troy, Rose, Gabe, Lyons, Cory). One great option is to hang completed fences in the room or hallway and do a "gallery walk", presentations or a writing assignment explaining choices as a follow up.
