Pretending to be William the Conqueror, students are given the resources and people available in England, 1066, and have to "organize" them into a "system" of some sort. Students are given a table which organizes each group according to what they want and what they can provide/offer in exchange (i.e. Knights:can protect/want land). This activity really helps students grasp the concepts of the Feudal System. Questions/answers and a diagram of the pyramid are also provided for after the scenario. Students enjoy this activity and it is amazing how close some of them get to the actual system - or even better!
