Did you know that November 23 is celebrated as Fibonacci day? It is Fibonacci Day because when the date is written in the mm/dd format (11/23) the digits form a Fibonacci sequence: 1,1,2,3. Kids love to learn about fun patterns like that!
Investigating the Fibonacci Sequence is a fabulous way to explore numbers and patterns within the world around us.
Start off with informational text about Fibonacci. Students find evidence in the text before moving on.
Read Blockhead: The Life of Fibonacci. Discussion questions and review follow (optional)
If you have access to YouTube, watch The Magic of Fibonacci Numbers 1: Arthur Benjamin
