These fiction bellringers will be a great way for you to get your class started. Included you will find a complete week of warm ups for each of the following areas: character, character motivation, plot and conflict, point of view, theme and tone. There are a total of 36 bellringer activities. These can be used in any order, but this is how I use them in class:
Monday – skill introduction and note taking . There is a note taking page included that can be placed in student notebooks.
Tuesday – Video application – students practice the weekly skill using a video.
Wednesday – Text application – students will practice the skill by reading a short excerpt and then answer open ended questions.
Thursday – Video application – students will continue to practice weekly skill using a video.
Friday – Quiz – students will read a short fiction excerpt and then answer two multiple choice questions about the weekly skill.
Bonus – I like to include SSR for warm up some days. I have included questions for students to apply to their individual reading book.
