For this book report students put the basic elements of their novels (plot, setting, static & dynamic characters, conflict etc.) on a Magic Book. A Magic Book is made with construction paper. You create squares using a weaving process and the book turns out to reveal a second set of squares that hold more information(instructions to make this are included). This project also asks a reader to make connections to their reading, pull out important quotes form the story and share their opinions. The Magic Book is easy to make and offers students a different way to present the information. They are also great to display in your libarary to get students intereested in different books. I created this after someone showed me how they use this for biography and other nonfiction projects only students report facts instead of literary elements. The free download is the instructions for making the book.
