This resource includes 2 FREE Fiction Reading Activity Sheets that can be used during Literacy Centers and/or Guided Reading. These activity sheets were created to align with the Common Core Standards, and are meant to reinforce “good” reading strategies for Fiction.

Each Activity Sheet contains an explanation of the skill/strategy and why we use it, directions on how to complete the activity with the text, and a chart or organizer for students to complete and show their thinking.

**These activity sheets were designed so that you can use each one multiple times just by changing out the text.

The Skills/Strategies included in this resource are…
Comparing Texts
Point of View & Perspective

All you will need for these activity sheets to work in your classroom is a variety of Fiction texts (short stories, picture books, chapter books, independent reading books). As a teacher, I always seem to have a collection of stories, but nothing to go with them. This resource solves that problem!!! I place a group of short stories out for my students to choose from (as one of my Literacy Centers), and one of these Fiction activity sheets (depending on the skill we are working on). I change out the activity sheet once a week, and provide new stories as needed.

**Students can also use these while reading their "independent reading" books.

Another way I use this resource in my classroom is during Guided Reading. I use a short story of my choosing, and the activity sheet that aligns with the standard I am teaching. This is a great way to differentiate. You can use the same activity sheet with each group, but with a different text (on their level).
