Fiction Reading Passages with Comprehension Questions | Kindergarten | 1st Grade

This pack includes 30 reading passages, with a focus on basic comprehension questions, for your early readers. The purpose of these passages is for students to respond to simple comprehension questions about the text. The answers for each question will come from directly within the text. Each passage includes two basic questions and one how/why question.

These passages are written with Kindergartners/1st Graders in mind. The passages include many simple sight words, words that can be decoded and some more challenging words. I recommend reading these passages with your students in small groups. If you have higher readers, they may read the passages on their own. These passages work well for guided reading groups, small groups or homework.
